Self-portrait originally done on an older iPad 3 with a Wacom stylus. I revisited this work on my iPad Pro with Apple Pencil using an assortment of 3rd party Charcoal brushes. I particularly like the "paper" textures that came with it.
I am really impressed by the new 3rd party brushes available for this app. The paper textures and colors are fantastic. I love this warm grey paper and I think it’s a wonderful base for these digital works. I’ve done a few…some a lot less abstract. But I’d like to find myself somewhere here. Despite my earlier influences and tendencies.
I have a lot of friends who don’t really understand work like this. And they’d likely want to see something pretty, more dynamic, more relateable which I understand. But it’s ok if our visions are diverse. I’ve neglected my own passion in the interest of others and what they’d rather see, or more accurately what I think they’d rather see. That mode has for the most part, come to an end. I’ll do me, and hope you come along for the ride.
